The Peace Project, an international social movement that I work with in Sierra Leone, changed this man’s life by giving him a pair of crutches.
I took this photograph in May 2012 during one of The Peace Project’s crutch distribution efforts in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
What a great reminder that something that seems small to us may be something large and wonderful to someone else. Blessings on your and on their work.

Janet, thank you so much. Your words bring tears to my eyes. A number of the physically-challenged people that we gave crutches to, told us: “This is a miracle.” We handed out crutches in Sierra Leone to whoever needed them. Thank you for your blessings. My blessings to you, too. Michele
This type of mission is a wonderful thing. We support people who do similar things but haven’t been able to be directly involved. Both sides of the equation are needed.
I appreciate your blessings as well.
janet
Janet, I would love to hear more about your work.
Below is a link to The Peace Project website — we are always looking to collaborate with folks with a similar ethos. Many blessings, Michele

Our help is financial but two of the groups we support are Compassion International and Gospel for Asia. We sponsor children and such a small (to us) amount provides so much for these children. It’s such a joy. We get letters from them, too, and pictures they’ve colored. When we sent a birthday gift and get a picture back of them, their family and all the things they purchased, it’s heart-achingly wonderful.

Janet, it’s wonderful to know that you are making a positive difference in the lives of these children and their families. The organization that I’m involved with also has a child sponsorship program. In addition, I sponsor a young guy called Musa who had his leg amputated by rebels during the 10-year civil war in Sierra Leone. All of us who do this work are blessed to have received this calling.

Wonderful photo to share for this challenge. I love that the moment your captured makes it appear that is jumping for joy.
Maggie, thank you so much for your appreciation. Yes, I agree he looks like he’s jumping for joy. In his heart I think he is…
Sounds like an amazing program. Your photo really captures the joy that a small (to many of us) change can bring to someone in need of just that change!
Heather, thank you for your kind words. Being part of this effort has changed my life. Michele — http://www.thepeaceproject.com

Great to hear from you. Thanks for your kind words. Keep up your brilliant work. Michele
Thank you for visiting my blog today. I appreciate the time you took to stop by. May your day be filled with joy and peace.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
Such a wake the violence in Sierra Leone left. I remember being on ebay years back, buying a very old mask. The seller subsequently told me her husband found it somewhere in the region, and the village was subsequently wiped out. I look at it every day, wondering if there’s anyone left who would remember its origin.
Bill, thanks so much for reading my blog. I read with great interest and sadness your story of the Sierra Leonean mask. If you would like to send me a picture of the mask and the name of the village, I would be more than happy to make some enquiries. My email is icostafilms@gmail.com
Peace and blessings, Michele
Thanks for the follow of my blog. Like the color of your background. Cheery.
We never arrive at true being until we discover the joy in serving humanity. kudos to you my friend.
So inspiring Michele! Thank you for the follow, I have returned the generous favor! 😀
Gosh! That´s some image! Really get´s the grey matter working…
Thank you so much! In one of the earlier comments somebody said the man looks as if he’s jumping for joy. I tend to agree… I was part of a charitable effort that donated 10,000 pairs of crutches to disabled people in Sierra Leone. God bless you and hope your day is lively 🙂
This photo is utterly arresting, and the context (your caring efforts, the contributions through your blog) makes the moment that much more so. Michele, you’re a warm gust of healing wind in a chilly world. Thanks for the example.-M
“…changed this man’s life by giving him a pair of crutches…” = good. But first the inhumanity of war changed his life.
Apart from a great post, you guys are doing great work. I take a bow.
